Pretty Pink Painted Pot

Woah, another posting the very next day!?
I'm on a roll, dear Pixels ;)
Anyways, it's a little pot I painted for my coworker (boss?) as a gift
It was for her baby shower (hence the pink)
Came out nice, I think. Not bad... she liked it (so she says!)
So let's see:
  • done by hand with acrylic
  • Sandy loves horses
  • Pink for the girl
  • Jasmine flower for fragrance and decor
  • Cactus because little cacti are cute as-all-get-out

'Till They Hear Me Out Cover

Woah baby! it's been a reeeeaaaal long time since I actually put some real "fresh" art on here!
...and for that I do apologize, dear pixels.
So here she is! Wahlah! I was asked by one of my students to make a picture for one of her short stories.
I was more than honored to do it for her...plus her story was really good!
I had her give me what she had in mind and I just sort'a stuck to that original idea (cuz it was good, duh)
This one's on the house, 'Ley!

The Christ

An experiment with the Mixer Brush Tool in CS5.
I was in a drunk and sullen mood... hence the the subject.
Came out nice though. I put the finishing touches on it last night (BG, Color adjustment)

Beware the Sssassin!

Hamms + The Inspector = this! God, I just love those old 60's cartoons!
The art was so unique and flirted with the abstract.
They backgrounds are gorgeous as well.
Funny as shit too! Anyways, heres my attempt to mimic/Homage the BG and style! Cheers!

Birthday Bags

Just a couple of birthday bags I put together for my two friends. I really like the Batman one! Hilarious! The image was soooo small that when I blew it up it was waaaay to blurry, so I had to take a filter to it and did some good old fashioned mouse painting. I was in a hurry to make them that day but I think they're not bad (the dancing girl could of used more polish)

Anyways The image of that bandaged "Bathman" is from an Italian Batman porn spoof from the 70's called Klito-Bell. I just love whole psyched out, manic, band-aided, and 'stached look about him! So Funny, so psychotic and dare I say... so sexy?!

Tigor With Guns

Title says it it all! It's everyone's favorite indomitable super mutant, Tigor!
Definitely one of my most cherished characters that my brother originally created as a child!
Look how he's grown.... awww, meeeemooorieeees!

Bandtio

After finishing up Herman, I got drunk off Tequila and starting pinning for the mother land. So I painted a sketch of a bandito I had laying around. Came out pretty damn good. Or as They say in Aguas' "¡Es muy chingon!"

Custom Poncho Flask!

Poncho on a flask? Damn straight!
This came in pretty fast (Tuesday)! Just ordered it last Friday! Crazy!

Aint she a beaut!? It came out so damn good!
I'm Gonna fill her with the most moderately priced, domestic, non-vintage grain liquor!

A close up. Check out the super high quality laser etching on that sucker!
Right down to the damn pen strokes and squiggles, good stuff!
I couldn't be more jazzed (that's right: jazzed) with the way this came out! Oo-De-Lally!
Anyways I got her at Flaskshop.com, check them out!
NOW I'M OFF TO JOIN THE NAVY!!!

Firewater Album Cover & Back

This is an album cover I did for one of my chum's (Adrian) school projects (A.I.)

I chose Firewater as the band (my personal fav) and Another Perfect Catastrophe as the song
We took pictures of Adrian's Toho monster toys & then of us (Me, Adrian, Pedro, Germo)
I then desaturated, contrasted and then did a retro style recoloring on the images
The "Asianese" font you see is actually just English made to look Japanese!
The first one says "Firewater" and the second one says "made by josé arenas" really cool font!

Old Zombie Concepts

Here are a couple of old zombie concepts for another one of Pedro's movie projects (April 2009)
They were hand drawn, scanned, then painted in CS4 by mouse (no Cintiq, unfortunately didn't have it yet)

So yeah, I tried replicating that 1950s horror comic book look through art style and simple coloring
Took some inspiration from old 70's Hanna Barbera cartoons (Scooby Doo, Space Ghost, etc)
And (heavily) from the WW2 sequence in the Heavy Metal movie... right.
Anyways, not exactly the world's scariest zombies, but they are fun and were fun to do!
I prefer the non-colored ones but all in all pretty good!

Poncho The Punchy Pup

Here's a little character I sketched the other night (early morning?), Poncho!
I mostly used the sketch of Poncho as an exercise in painting with my Cintiq...
which I'm not too great with.......... Yet.

I think he came out pretty darn good though (my opinion)

Frank The Duel Ghoul

Some more late Halloween stuff...
This was done the old fashioned way, that is: drawn on paper, scanned, and then painted with my mouse via Photoshop, no Cintiq love on this one....
I, uh, based his costume off my cowboy costume this last Halloween (don't laugh)...

I cant seem to draw anything other than cartoon animals and Frankenstein-ish ghouls these days, hurmm...
